Tsavo East National Park is Kenya’s largest park and home to tales of fierce lions. There is so much wildlife to experience on its wild and rugged expanse.
Taita hills wildlife sanctuary hosts four among the members of the big five & it’s adjacent to Tsavo west national park. Enjoy excellent views and photographic opportunities from Salt Lick safari lodge lobby/terraces areas.

We’ll be up early for a busy safari day, traveling along the Mombasa Nairobi Road.
Safari
We’ll arrive at Tsavo East mid-morning, with plenty of time for a game drive before lunch. On these broad plains, we’ll be looking for some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya. Don’t be surprised if these enormous creatures are reddish in color. That’s from rolling in the red-dust soil of the park.
You’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch and learn the finer points of game watching from your expert driver/guide. Any questions or concerns during your safari – just ask your guide. He’s always happy to help.
In the afternoon, as the park cools down and the animals emerge from their resting spots, looking to feed and drink, we’ll head out on another game drive. Look for antelope, zebra, and giraffe and of course, the big cats.
Overnight
Dinner and Overnight at the safari Lodge/Tent of your choice.

Safari
Begin your early morning game drive possibly at 0600 hrs. Catch up with the predators out in the field hunting and the grazers browsing the soft, dewy vegetation during this enticing early morning game viewing. Other than wildlife viewing you’ll experience the natural scents emanating from the bush around you. Return to your lodge for Breakfast.
Check out after breakfast and proceed on your mid-morning game viewing en route to Exit. Drive to Taita Wildlife Sanctuary. Continue with your game viewing after check-in. Lunch. Evening game viewing is scheduled to begin at 1600hrs.
Taita hills wildlife sanctuary hosts four among the members of the big five & it’s adjacent to Tsavo west national park. Enjoy excellent views and photographic opportunities from Salt Lick safari lodge lobby/terraces areas. Visit the underground tunnel and bunker with ground-level windows that provides unbelievably close, yet safe access to a variety of animals as they frequent the water hole for water & salt licks.
Overnight
Dinner and overnight at Salt lick Lodge
Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch
We’ll be up for a pre-breakfast game drive to watch the wildlife come awake and enjoy the early morning light over the sanctuary’s green hills.
After breakfast at our lodge, we’ll venture out for one more game drive in this compact but densely populated reserve. This will give us opportunities to view more of our favorite animals and perhaps to spot others for the first time.
Taking a last look at Taita Hills, we’ll depart the reserve with photos and memories of our safari adventure.
Drop off.
We’ll head out for the Kenya Coast on the Nairobi Mombasa Road and enjoy a rest stop for lunch on the way.
By late afternoon or early evening, we’ll have you back at Diani/Mombasa Beach Hotel.
